The Widest BMW is now a Sedan! not an X-Series car.

Updated: Oct 23, 2020

Overview

Surprisingly, BMW M8 competition Gran coupe is the widest BMW ever which is even wider than the X7, one of the best and the biggest SUV from the company. It is packed with high-end technology from the company, though being a performance vehicle this M8 is no less than a luxury vehicle.

The BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is a highly modern vehicle that is packed with an iconic engine, futuristic interiors, aggressive body, etc...

PERFORMANCE

  • Engine 4.4-litres M-twin turbocharged V8

  • Power 625 hp

  • Torque 720 Nm

  • 0-60 Mph 3.0 secs

The M8 Competition Gran Coupe features the most powerful engine of any standard production vehicles from the brand. The engine is capable of producing a whopping 625 hp and a torque of 720 Nm, that is enough to twist the chassis. It could reach 0-60 Mph in just 3.0 seconds which is faster than any other production BMWs. In an In-depth review done by Mat Watson in his youtube channel, this particular car was capable of doing a standing quarter-mile in just 10.89 seconds that is faster than any of its likes such as Audi RS7, Mercedes AMG GT63, etc.... The car is available with the M xDrive and 2WD and importantly this car comes with All Wheel Steering. The wheels are fitted with adaptive suspension and Active M differential that provides maximum traction and control on any road conditions. Hence, it outshines every other of its likes, in terms of performance. This car weighs about 2 tonnes but it seems the performance of this car is not diluted with the weight.

LUXURY INTERIOR

Though it is a high-performance vehicle, it is not less than a luxury car. It has got large legroom to the passengers similar to any other luxury car does provide. The interior is wrapped in Merino Leather with Alcantara finish including the door panels, the dash, the steering wheel and every other place possible. The luxury meets the futuristic technology designed by the M-division that gives the driver a great experience. At the centre of the dashboard, we can see a large touchscreen console which is powered by BMW's Operating System 7.0, enables us to interact with the car itself and even connect any android mobile phone directly.

The interior is fully integrated with a technology called "BMW Live Cockpit Professional". The steering wheel has dedicated M-buttons to switch between driving modes. We can also switch between manual and automatic transmission modes. The cruise control in this car is so advanced which senses the nearby vehicles itself and turn accordingly. We also get different types of trims inside with Carbon-fibre for extra more bucks. The seats are comfy and sporty looking as well that are M-stitched. The centre console serves the driver great visibility with the help of the cameras at the back and the front. The instrument cluster is all-digital, makes it easy for the driver to know everything happening with the car. There is plenty of USB-C ports but no USB-A ports are available. There is also wireless charging available to charge mobile phones.

RADICAL EXTERIOR

The Exterior body is the most eye-catching aspect of this car. In the exterior also we can get the carbon-fibre finish on some parts like the Roof, Air vents, Spoiler, Diffuser, Mirror covers and Exhaust tips and this costs you more money. The air vents at the front fenders are not functional as you don't get any advantage from it. We get 4 Exhaust pipes at the rear side which are not fake as some of the companies do make fake exhausts tips.

Dimensions

Length 5,098 mm or 5.01m

Height 1,420 mm or 1.42 m

Width 2,137 mm or 2.13 m

Weight 1,980 Kg or 4,365 lbs

The width of the car as you see above is 0.13 metres more than a BMW X7. Even after having such radical dimensions, parking this car is not a trouble. Thanks, to its camera systems and the All-Wheel Steering system which makes the car turn very easily after all being the widest car.
