The 2021 Toyota GR Yaris, one of the most awaited hatchbacks in this year and the most radical Yaris yet because this time it is a Homologation model of the future rally car of Toyota. The new Yaris is designed by Team Gazoo racing and Tomi Mäkinen.

The new Yaris has got the most powerful 3-cylinder engine currently and it has got Four-wheel-drive system which is specially made for this very car by the Toyota's WRC team Gazoo racing in 20 years. This system provides the car with three different drive modes with three different torque distribution.

Standard mode 60% to front, 40% to rear

Sport mode 30% to front, 70% to rear

Track mode 50% to front, 50% to rear

These driving modes are selected easily with a Rotatory nob near the Gear stick. Having such advanced technology and a very light body, the Yaris is capable of doing 0-62 Mph in under 5.5 seconds and the top speed is about 143 Mph.

Exterior design

The design of this Yaris is kind of Adorable . The only elements that this new GR Yaris shares from the old Yaris are the headlights, door mirrors and the taillights and everything else is brand new which includes the engine, the suspension, the gearbox, the wheels, etc... The whole body is remade to look like a perfect little rally car. Unlike other Yaris, this 2021 model is a three-door car which is essential to go rallying. This ridiculous pocket rocket is 10 cms lower and 5 cms longer than the normal Yaris and the roof is made of Carbon-Fibre which is nuts.

The massive grilles at the front are one of the biggest makeovers for the car and that hides the radiator behind which is as massive as the grille. This huge element help in cooling the engine. Both the sides of the radiator grilles, there is a rectangular funnel-like air intake that draws air while the car's moving to cool down the brakes. Moving on to the rear side, we can see significantly massive wheel arches which make the car 6 cms wider than the normal Yaris and improves the cornering ability. The top side of the car, a Roof spoiler is placed to improve the Aerodynamics. The Bonnet, the doors and the boot lid are made of Aluminium. The suspension system for the rear wheels are independent with a torsion beam set up. This car features a special Yaris performance dual-exhaust system. The body is made up of both Carbon-fibre polymer combined with aluminium.

Interior design

Inside the car, it is quite a bit different and has a unique red stitching on the seats, gear nob, steering wheel, etc... The steering wheel has a GR logo embedded and its position is adjusted similar to any rally car. The seats are upgraded and are textured with Alcantara on the top layer that gives a bit of luxury feel and grip so that the driver doesn't slide out the seat. The seats are manually adjustable back and forth easily using the lever in the sides. Of course, the car has got a 6-speed manual transmission with the traditional gear lever. The gear nob is said to be raised up about 4 cms therefore, gear shifting made easy. The Gear nob is covered with leather as standard. Shockingly, it's got a Stability control button on the side of the gear nob that allows turning the stability completely off. The gauges are basic but have a little screen between the analogue dials to let the driver know the Turbo boost, Torque distribution, etc... The car has got some modern features too such as the Reverse cameras, Dual-zone climate control and keyless entry. The car has got a 7.0 inch Infotainment screen that runs both Android auto and Apple car play. It also has a six speakers sound system with satellite radio too.

Pricing and Ratings

This new Yaris became as one of the most celebrated hot hatches in this entire year and earned a score of 10 out of 10 in Topgear, one of very few cars that scored a 10. The company offers two different power configurations. The European version of the Yaris will rate a power of 257 hp and the JDM spec will rate 261 hp. It is priced at about $53,900.
