2021 McLaren 765LT: The most powerful Longtail car

Overview

The McLaren 765LT is a track-focused lightweight supercar. Most probably the facelift version of the McLaren 720S. The name itself tells us things, as the LT indicates Longtail and 765 is simply the Horsepower and the production number of the car. This car is more of a 720S at the front side but at the rear, its slightly elongated that provides a more streamlined structure than the 720S. The 765LT is lighter than the 720S which is achieved a more stripped out interior and extensive usage of Carbon-fibre all over the car. Like the previous models, McLaren 600LT and 675LT, the 765LT is also a limited production car and the production numbers are 765 in coupé and 765 in spyder with a total of 1,530.

McLaren 765LT's Engine and Performance

The new McLaren 765LT shares its engine with the 720S, but it is tuned a little bit and produces more power and torque which makes the 765LT considerably quicker than the 720S, thanks to the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission making the car more responsive at every gear changes. This car uses a very light Carbon-fibre aerodynamic kit to give that extra downforce and stability needed to the car at high speeds. When a car is lighter, the power-to-weight ratio will be higher, especially in a car like this. Therefore, the power-to-weight ratio is 622 hp/tonne which is higher than any of its likes such as Ferrari 458 Pista and Mercedes AMG GT Black series.

0-60 Mph 2.7 seconds
Quarter-mile 9.9 seconds

The Suspension system is upgraded in the 765LT, as a result, this car has a lower ride height and wider tyres at the front which improves traction and stable during the sharp twist and turns with more grip. The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres are fitted as standard and that provides great grip. The Rims are 10-spoke forged alloys and lightweight. The Carbon-ceramic brakes callipers used in this car is adopted from the hypercar.

McLaren 765LT's interior

The Interior design purely focused on Weight-saving as Carbon-fibre is extensively used. The Steering wheel, Seats, Floor, Roof, etc... are all Carbon as well. The Dashboard is also carbon only but it is wrapped up with Faux-suede Alcantara. The Air conditioner, Floor carpets and Stereo systems are absent in this car keeping the weight in mind but they can be restored back paying extra money. The Infotainment screen is 8.0 inch which supports touchscreen also. It is mounted vertically on the dashboard positioned in between the seats that face the driver. McLaren is one of the best in providing outside visibility and the same is done in the 765LT as the previous cars such as McLaren 720S, McLaren Senna, McLaren F1, etc are well known for their outward visibility. This car does not provide any amount of cargo space.

There can be four Speakers installed in this car that is made by Wilkins audio system and they are compatible with Bluetooth connectivity and SiriusXM satellite system.

McLaren 765LT's exterior

The Exterior of the 765LT is equipped with a whole new carbon-fibre kit. This kit includes the Front bumper, Front splitter, Side skirts, Rear diffuser, Rear spoiler are made of carbon. The Rear spoiler is a more significant part of the car because it does not only help in providing downforce but acts as an Air brake too. At high speeds, the spoiler is automatically activated and is lifted up by itself. This car can be equipped with more carbon fibre accent all over the body which is called the MSO Clubsport Pro package that includes lightweight racing seats, Six-point harness, improved brakes and a system called McLaren track telemetry system that records lap times. The Exhaust system is a Quad pipe system made up of Titanium that is running through the rear bumper. These Exhausts are meant to produce some wild sounds on tracks.

Price and Release date

The car is on sale currently and keep it in mind, this car is a limited production vehicle (only 765 will be made) and the company sold every car they planned for 2020. The price can easily blow your pockets away because the base model is priced at £280,000. There are so many additional extras and trims available from McLaren's MSO division. The cost of these additional features might stoke you but, remember it would worth all the money.
